Area Guide and maps

Main page: Basic area information
Many people are unfamiliar with the basic features of Ocean City, and sometimes even return visitors have trouble remembering the layout on a street-by-street level. The main page of the Area Guide helps you decide which part of the city will be most enjoyable for you, providing brief descriptions of each area and information on events, landmarks, activities, and more.

Click on an icon next to the area name to find restaurants, stores, music venues, etc. in that area. Hover over a link to see any associated pictures in that area on the map. Click a link to get more information about it. Click an area to go to the mapping tools interface.

 

Mapping tools
The most useful features of the Area Guide are the mapping tools. These allow you to create custom maps and driving directions, as well as lists of places to visit while in Ocean City.

Map layers
At the top of the far left sidebar you'll see a series of icons entitled Dining, Kid Stuff, etc. These allow you to overlay items of interest on the map. Just check any items you wish to see and click "refresh".

Map display
The map itself is controlled by a set of movement tools: clicking any of these will move or zoom the map one level. Clicking anwhere in the map will refresh it, centered on that spot. "Print" and "Email" will display pages formatted for those respective tasks.

Driving directions and the route planner
Below the map layers there are 2 pre-formatted search boxes. If you got to this page from a property page, you can enter your address in the "starting from" field, you will be given driving directions from that address to the property of interest. Alternately, you can get driving directions from the specified address to either of our check-in offices, then on to the property itself. You can also create a customized route plan by clicking "plan your own route" at the bottom of this set.

Places of interest
Beneath the map display you'll be presented with a categorized series of locations within a 2-mile radius of the current map view. If the location has a website associated with it, the link will appear in its description. Click that link to visit the website in a new window.

Property summary
If you got to this page from a property page, that property will appear in summarized form in the far right sidebar.

Here is a small collection of photos taken around Ocean City. If you've never been, it should give you some idea of some fun things you can do and cool places to see. Simply click on a picture to view a full-sized version in a larger window. Use "Print" and "Email" to save for later or send them to a friend.
